I am a 40 year player and volunteer of the game with 20 years full-time experience, I have a love for grassroots rugby league. Working, playing and volunteering in this space for the majority of my years. I am passionate about ensuring we create inclusive, fun environments where the Rugby League community, can enjoy learning, participating and competing in any facet of our sport. We aim to develop people, more-so than players, with on and off-field skills and experiences creating life-long consumers and contributors to our community.
I have been very fortunate to work at almost all levels of the game, from professional NRL club, to running our National Team programs for men and women, whilst continuing to volunteer my time to coach my 2 boys in the RLGC competition. These experiences have allowed me to witness the damage elitism can do to the grassroots, if our we do not get things right for the majority of our members. With a small percentage of success to be involved professionally, I hope my experience can help us cater for abilities and aspirations.
11 years ago I stumbled into the women’s space ,which sparked a great sense of responsibility to ensure the 50% female population could enjoy what I did growing up. I was asked to join the board to assist in this area specifically, and extremely proud to be assisting the greatest rugby league community in Australia. I believe the game of Rugby League is only an 80 minute biproduct of an amazing community of people we have. These people create memorable experiences both on and off the field and I hope that in 5 years our Community matures to include all types of Rugby League Programs and People to be the biggest and most inclusive sport in the country. I look forward to working with stakeholders at all levels to share experience and knowledge.
